METHODS: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were anesthetized with etomidate, propofol, or lidocaine plus etomidate. WebMyoclonus is especially problematic in nonfasting patients, patients with open eye injuries, or those who have limited cardiovascular reserves. Various drugs, including opioids or benzodiazepines, have been investigated as pretreatment drugs before induction of anesthesia with etomidate to prevent myoclonic movements ( 2–5 ).
