WebLongstone Barrow is a bowl barrow with a hollow in the top and enclosed by a ditch. It is 34 paces in diameter and 8 feet in height. [6] Longstone Barrow is located at SS 7072 4277. It is a ditched bowl barrow, 42.6 metres in diameter and 3.7 metres high. WebThe Longstone is a beautiful megalithic monument near the village of Mottistone. It consists of two pieces of local greensand sandstone probably from a vein 100 metres away. The larger stands at 3.9 metres and the smaller lies at its foot.

To the west is a smaller stone which has been incorporated in a modern wall, but is still in situ. The site is probably the last vestige of a long barrow. WebThe barrow cemetery survives as eleven circular mounds in a mainly linear arrangement which range in size from 14.7m to 32.6m in diameter and from 0.6m to 3.2m in height. The surrounding quarry ditches from which material to construct the mounds was derived survive as buried features up to 3m wide.
